ZBA denies application to build mini mart in Derby Line

   DERBY LINE — The Derby Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) denied an application for a conditional use permit to build a mini mart and gas station on Main Street in Derby Line. The application, under the name of Main Street LLC., was brought before the board by Bill Simendinger, the vice-president of Champlain Farms.

Firefighter denies setting blaze that destroyed vacant house

   A firefighter for the Barton Fire Department pled innocent in Orleans District Court Thursday, March 4, to a charge of first degree arson.
   Dale Crews Jr., 24, of Orleans was released after paying an $800 deposit on an $8,000 appearance bond.
