The Storyboard Life of Kevin Harkey

NEWPORT - Nestled in the backwoods of the Northeast Kingdom, far from the hustle and bustle of city life, lives Kevin Harkey. He moved his family from Long Beach, CA to the Green Mountain State 10 years ago.
Harkey has worked on such animated films such as The Lion King, Mickey’s Christmas Carol, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan and many others. 
Much of Harkey’s work has been a storyboard artist. A storyboard artist, explained Harkey, puts the script to visuals. 

Lowell Protesters Retreat in Face of Restraining Order

LOWELL - Construction on the ridge line of Lowell Mountain for the large wind turbine project is on schedule following a week of heated controversy that included the threat of a lawsuit by Green Mountain Power (GMP) and protesters occupying an area near the construction site in an attempt to stop the project.

Thompson–– Roland Elbridge, 94, passed away October 13, 2011. Calling hours will be Monday, October 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home in Essex Junction and the funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church of Burlington on Tuesday, October 18 at 11 a.m. Should friends desire, donations can be made in Roland’s memory to the Visiting Nurse Association.

Brighton Worker Convicted of Threatening

GUILDHALL, VT - Mary J. Taylor, 68, of Island Pond, was found guilty of two charges stemming from an incident that occurred on June 18, 2011, at the Town of Brighton recycling shed where she is employed part time.
Taylor faces a possible sentence of not more than 60 days in jail and not more than a $500 fine or both on the disorderly conduct charge; and not more than 1 year in jail and not more than a $1,000 fine or both on the assault by menace charge. She has not yet been sentenced.

The Highland Lodge: A Victim of Changing Times

When you can no longer keep technology out of the dining room, the traditional inn model is too far outdated.

Craftsbury Takes Season Series From UCA with 2-0 Victory

DERBY–The Craftsbury Chargers visited UCA for the rubber match of their three game season series. UCA's Lady Crusaders had taken the first game at Craftsbury early in the season. Earlier this week, UCA went back to Craftsbury and were defeated solidly by a score of 5-1. Their final match-up would prove to be an exciting contest.
