NEWPORT-The North Country Falcons came back from a 37-6 deficit by dominating the second half of Friday nightâs Division two playoff game. However, that early 31 point margin was too much to come back from as the Falcons were ousted from the semi final round by the score of 37-26, one game short of a championship game bid.
North Country had rolled into the contest with a 9-0 record and an impressive decision over these same Bulldogs just two weeks ago. B and B was ready this time, and they immediately got on the scoreboard.
Lawson–– Wayne Leonard, 65, of South Burlington, VT, died on October 31, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

Abdelnour–– Cy, 64, of Holland, Vermont, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011 after a long illness. A private, family funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. December 8, 1946-October 31, 2011
Cy Abdelnour, 64, of Holland, Vermont, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011 after a long illness. Cy was born on December 8, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Moses and Ollie (Abraham) Abdelnour. His father predeceased him.
Cy attended Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College (Miami, Oklahoma), where he played football, and graduated from the University of Miami (FL). He deeply enjoyed sharing his love of football with youth, and was head coach of the North Country Junior Falcons for many years.
NEWPORT - Judge Martin Maley handed down a Preliminary Injunction Tuesday in favor of Green Mountain Power (GMP) in its case against Don and Shirley Nelson.
Protesters who occupy any area within 1,000 feet of the blasting area on Lowell Mountain within two hours of a scheduled blast will now be in criminal contempt, according to the order. The order authorizes the Orleans County Sherriffâs Department and The Vermont State Police to "arrest and remove any individuals within the 1,000 foot boundaryâŠâ
DERBY - VELCO's lawyers are arguing that a request by the Derby Select Board for a public hearing before the Public Service Board (PSB) is essentially invalid because, although the request was made during a meeting of the Derby board, the issue of the VELCO permit was not officially on the agenda and therefore could not be acted upon under the state's Open Meeting Law.
