Lake Region Moves to 8-3 With Win Over Oxbow

BRADFORD–Coming off their 1st loss in 6 games, the Lady Rangers showed why they are a tough team to beat in Division 3 high school softball. Matt Tinker’s scrappy and spunky bunch of girls beat the Olympians of Oxbow, to the tune of a 14-2 drumming on Monday afternoon. The Lady Rangers pounded out 14 runs off of 11 hits. Of their 14 runs, 11 came with 2 outs in the inning, highlighted by the 6 run rally with 2 outs in the 3 inning to blow the game wide open.

Oxbow Nips Lake Region 7-6

Bradford-The Lake Region boys dropped a tight 7-6 loss to the 9-3 Oxbow Olympians in Bradford Monday afternoon. Oxbow made a squeeze play work in the bottom of the sixth for the winning margin. Lake Region’s Trevor Royer absorbed the loss for the now 6-6 Rangers. Junior Darik Messier recorded two RBI's and two hits for Lake Region.

Falcons Thump Vikings 13-5

LYNDON–North Country took advantage of the mistakes made by an inexperienced Lyndon Institute team en route to a 13-5 win on on Monday.
The Vikings walked 11 batters and committed 10 errors in the game as Coach Bonvechio likened the contest to one of those long drawn out Yankees Red Sox games.
"It was a very sloppy game, there were three catcher's interference calls which created a lot of confusion on the field," said Bonvechio, "I mean when was the last time you saw that?"

Ranger Girls Fall Late to BFA 12-5

FAIRFAX-Softball wins in Fairfax have been few and far between over the last few years for Lake Region’s softball team, and that proved to be the case again as the home team broke open a close 7-5 game with five runs in the sixth in a 12-5 win.

FAIRFAX– Lake Region ran into a buzz saw in the form of BFA ace Robbie Rinaldo, as he set down the Rangers on a three hitter, striking out seven in six innings of work.
LR’s Tyler Jacobs pitched well, but was touched for a two run homer by Brett Hakey, which broke a 0-0 deadlock in the fourth. Hakey added a double, and would come on in relief, closing out the game for the Academy.
Kyle Perry had two hits for the Rangers as they move to 6-5, while BFA now stands at 10-3.

CVU Bests NCU 18-0

NEWPORT– The North Country Falcons had a rough go of it on Thursday falling to CVU 18-0.
Coach Bonvechio's boys got behind by ten in the first inning and would never recover after that.
The Falcons will try to put this one behind them as they get ready for MVU on Tuesday at home.

Falcons Win in Extra Frames

NEWPORT– The North Country softball team put to bed their eight game losing streak on Thursday against CVU. The Falcons needed extra innings to get the job done, but they persevered, getting the 4-3 win and a huge monkey off of their backs.
North Country would wait until late in the game to get their offense going. Down 1-0 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth starting pitcher Kayla Desheneau drew a walk to tie the game.
Emi Pare then drove in the go ahead run as Katie Ste. Marie was able to beat the throw home on the fielder's choice.
