June 21st
LYNDONVILLE– The OEC Kings American Legion baseball team swept the Burlington Lynx by scores of 4-2 and 6-5 at Skip Pound Field on the campus of Lyndon State College in the team’s home opening doubleheader on Sunday.
In game two, OEC shortstop Chris Sevigney ended a 12-inning marathon with a walkoff infield single to lift the Kings to 2-1 on the season.

Richard Banker of Summerfield, Florida and Newport, Vermont died on June 13 after battling lung cancer for 10 weeks. Dick passed two days prior to his 80th birthday, peacefully under Hospice Care in his home surrounded by family in Summerfield.
Born Richard Elbridge Banker in Thetford Center, Vermont to Charles and Hilda Banker, Dick graduated from Thetford Academy in 1949 and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War Conflict. During his active and Reserve Service, Dick was a decorated Marine earning several honors.

NEWPORT–In senior baseball action Sunday, the Newport Thunder Dogs defeated the Caledonia Bucks 6 to 5.
The Thunder Dogs jumped out to a 3 to nothing lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a walk to Jamie Fourner and base hits from Eric Trucott, Scott Burdick, Doug Oliver, and Brian "Bear" White.
The Bucks answered with a run in the 5th inning, but Newport got that run right back in the 6th when Oliver lead off with a double off the right center field fence, followed by a single by Bear and a fielder’s choice RBI by Scott Wing.

June 16th
LYNDON–Haley Kennedy and Emma English combined for 6 hits in their Babe Ruth fastpitch softball debuts, as Lake Region held off the Lyndon Orioles Wednesday evening, 8-6.
The Rangers opened their Babe Ruth season (for ages 13-16) with 13 hits to back the strong pitching performance of Michelle Thibeault (six hits allowed, seven strikeouts).
Kennedy led off the game with the first of her four hits on the night, and later came in to score on a Chelsey Thibeault ground out to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
June 15th
NEWPORT–The North Country 2 Babe Ruth team, known as the Athletics, hosted their first home game of the season on Tuesday evening after their previous meetings were either canceled or postponed due to various reasons.
The still unnamed Lake Region One team paid a visit the to the North Country Union High School baseball field to challenge the Athletics under favorable weather conditions.
The visiting team would walk away with the 9-3 win, with Alex Beauregard picking up the win while going two for three at the plate.
