The North Country Girls Golf Team competed in the Vermont State, Division I Championships on Tuesday, at the Proctor Pittsford Country Club. With a combined score of 230, they tied for seventh in the ten team tournament. Eilish Muir improved her score over last year by 35%. Shooting a respectable 123, she had her best hole on the 7th,a par 3. â€śI used my 5 iron to put the ball four feet from the pin, just missed the birdie putt. But, I wasnâ€™t short, and made the easy putt back for my par. Unfortunately, it was my only par.â€ť
MIDDLEBURYâ€“Lake Region's Matt Morin and Mount Mansfield's Jona Scott were paired up for play on Wednesday for the Division II boys state championship in Middlebury.
The two went back and forth all day long, but Morin emerged victorious over Scott, shooting a six over par 77 to Scott's 81.
"It was pretty back and forth with Jona," said Morin the day after his big win, "The course played really tough, the weather conditions were really good, although it got a little windy towards the end. I was pretty happy with the way I played."

The North Country Boys Tennis Team finished off their season with a "win some, lose some" scenario in their final two matches, picking up the win against Spaulding and the loss against Stowe.
Against Spaulding, the only loss came via the forfeit in the number two doubles position. Dave Durivage went over Matt Avery 6-4, 7-5. His brother Thomas won a little more convincingly with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Will Gurin.
Steve Raboin (6-1, 6-1) and Fred Petzoldt (6-2, 6-2) also had strong showings as did Travers Parsons-Grayson (6-4, 6-1).
BOSTONâ€“Danika Gallup , a senior at Lake Region Union High School, has just been awarded $5,000 as part of the Hood Good Sport Scholarship Program. For the second year in a row, HP Hood has awarded $5,000 scholarships to varsity athletes who demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the field, as well as excel in academics and is an involved community member.
Out of the over 2,400 submissions received, 3 winners were selected out of 10 finalists in each New England state. Gallup was 1 out of 3 chosen for the scholarship in Vermont. She will be attending Saint Michael's College in the fall.
ST.ALBANSâ€“Strong and gusty northwest winds, fifty degree temperatures, and light showers, perfect weather for the final girlâ€™s golf match of the season. This was a make-up, weather postponed the first date. Weather worse than this?
26 girls from 8 high schools braved the conditions to compete in the Champlain Invitational, including a record 9 golfers from South Burlington. Essex won the event with a score of 98. BFA edged Burlington115 to 117 for second. MVU finished fifth with a 125, followed by North Country.
BURLINGTONâ€“With a team score of 61, The North Country boys track and Field team took home fourth place overall at the Division One State Track and Field meet on Saturday.
"It went down to the wire for third place between us and Colchester," Coach Gary Johnson said.
The team was paced to victory by the efforts of it's short distance runners, specifically Dylan Colombia. Colombia had two second place finishes, the first in the 100M with a time of 11.38, the second in the 200M, coming in in 23.42.
