This was the opening remark by Gabbie Bolton concerning the decision by North Country Hospital to replace Dr. Leslie Lockridge, the oncologist, with two part-time Dartmouth-Hitchcock oncologists working two days a week.
LOS ANGELES - With a Golden Globe award in hand, Vermonter Julie Frost is still glowing from the experience of being on the same stage that has seen the best and brightest in film and television.
Frost, originally from Tulsa, OK, moved to New Haven, VT, when she was a baby and considers herself a Vermonter.
Frost won the award for Best Original Song, âMasterpiece,â which she co-wrote with Madonna and Jimmy Harry for Madonnaâs film âW.E.â and which will be on Madonna's upcoming album.
COVENTRY - Improvements to the Newport Airport have begun. A new hangar was just built and completed this week and it will accommodate a second homeowner who skis frequently in the area.
There are plans to build a âcondo hangarâ that would accommodate approximately 16 aircraft. The construction may begin as early as spring.
NEWPORT CITY â A Newport woman accused of embezzling from her former employer pleaded not guilty to the felony charge in Orleans Court yesterday.
Jennifer Messier, also known as Jennifer Stace, 37, faces up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of not more than $500.
Sept. 8, 2011, George Azur told Newport City Police Sgt. Seth DiSanto that Messier had embezzled money while employed at his business. Azur said he fired Messier when he found out she took money from the storeâs cash register.
WESTMOREâIt was cold and bitter day at the races for the North Country Nordic teams on Saturday. Moved from Friday due to conditions, the teams competed in the Lyndon Institute Carnival's Free Technique race. Despite being shorthanded due to All-State music try-outs and illness, it was the Falcon girls having another strong day, taking home second place at the event while the boys placed fifth.
