NEWPORT - A little song, a little dance, a little murder and you have the makings of a great American musical.
"Chicago" will be performed at North Country High School on May 4, 5, and 6 by Act Three Teatricals.
This week, members of the cast put on some vignettes for the press. The play is being produced by Chase Gosselin who is graduating from United Christian Academy and taking his fine talent with him.
Make sure you catch the show.
HOLLAND – A Holland couple is upset because they were not notified about the Derby Wind Project and they say their property abuts the Chase Farm where one of two wind turbines could be constructed. Chad Farrell of Encore Redevelopment, LLC, of Burlington, the project developer, disagrees.
Holland property owners Sherry and John Wagner sent a letter to the Vermont Public Service Board (PSB) stating that their due process rights are violated and are calling for a halt of the project. The PSB told Encore to respond to the allegation by Monday, April 30.
COVENTRY – Plans for a $3.4 million expansion at the Newport State Airport continue to move forward. The project calls for a 1,000-foot expansion of the north-south runway.Â

NEWPORT–Taylor Blake pitched a two hitter in her first varsity start as the Falcon bats erupted, driving in seventeen runs to fuel North Country’s 17-2 win over Rice.
"She did a great job out there," said coach Leslie Dunn of Blake. "I think she was a little nervous, but as the game went on her location improved."
The lop-sided affair lasted just six innings ,as the fifteen run rule kicked in and mercifully ended the contest for the Green Knights.

NEWPORT–Wyatt Prue pitched 5 2/3 impressive innings in his first varsity start, but North Country had a hard time getting runs in behind him and the Falcons fell late to the Green Knights of Rice 8-1.
"He had appeared three times in relief, so we decided to give him a start," said Brian Bonvechio of Prue. "I thought he was very strong out there."
Prue also had a productive day at the plate with two doubles and the lone Falcon RBI of the game.
In the first, with the wind blowing out to right, Jon Boyer walked, followed by a double by Nate Stewart to put runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Morristown)- Trailing 10-4 entering the final inning the Lake Region Lady Rangers epitomized the ole’ saying “never say die,” plating 5 runs to make the score 10-9, and had the tying run on second base before finally succumbing to defending state champion Peoples Academy on Tuesday.
“I don’t know that I’ve ever been quite so happy after a loss,” quipped Ranger coach Matt Tinker. “These girls just wouldn’t give up, and I couldn’t be prouder of the effort they gave.”

MORRISVILLE–Kyle Perry gave up six runs in the first, and the Peoples Academy Wolves never looked back, as fifteen runners crossed home plate in Lake Region's 15-0 loss on Tuesday.
Despite a rough first inning, coach Eric Degree was impressed with Perry's ability to regroup and focus.
"Kyle's mental toughness was outstanding. They (PA) have a good hitting team, and they earned their runs in the first, but he was able to bounce back and throw some good innings for us."
