JAY â âService above selfâ has long been Rotary Internationalâs motto. Now, with the assistance of the Newport Rotary Club, that tradition is moving to a new generation of Rotarians, with North Country Union High Schoolâs Interact Club.
Members of the Interact Club and the Newport Rotary Club met at Jay Peak Resort Friday for Interact Clubâs official kickoff. The day included inspirational speeches, time at the resortâs water park and a luncheon.
DERBY â Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NEKHS) is moving forward on its plan to construct a facility in Derby's commercial district on the Crawford Road.
Currently, NEKHS has three locations in the Newport area: one on Dutchess Street in Newport, one on the Lake Road, and the other on Citizens Road in Derby. These locations will be combined into one location in Derby.
Plans are to construct a 30,200-square foot facility with approximately 132 parking places on five acres. A new water and sewer line will be installed along with a fire hydrant.

Kimberly Anne (Underhill) Morin, 44, of Second Street, Newport died Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center, Burlington. Kimberly was born in Franklin, NH on April 28, 1968, the daughter of Robert E. Underhill, Jr. and Lynda M. (Charles) Underhill.
She grew up in Salisbury, NH and was a 1986 graduate of Bishop Brady High School and received her associate degree in business administration from the Concord Technical Institute, Concord, NH. She also completed police standards training.
