GLOVER - Shortly after 7 PM Monday, Democrat John S. Rodgers officially launched his candidacy for the Vermont State Senate.
Speaking to a small crowd gathered under a white tent behind the Parker Pie Company in West Glover, VT, Rodgers spoke about his intention to do what is right for his constituents.
Rodgers urged voters to trust his record. Rodgers said that Republican opponent Bob Lewis, who has been endorsed by outgoing state senator Vince Illuzzi, may have been in Montpelier "to occupy a seat," but while Rodgers served in the Vermont House, he was there to get things done.
DERBY - Vermont State Police have reported an attempted burglary at the Lague residence on Ridegehill Drive in Derby.
According to police, a man attempted to punch out a window into a basement bedroom but was confronted by the occupant, Joshua Lague, who was woken by the sound of broken glass. Lague gave chase on foot but the thwarted burglar escaped.
Police believe the burglar may have escaped to a nearby car because evidence suggests a vehicle peeled out, leaving skid marks behind.
