Illuzzi Proposes Alternative to Healthcare Model

January 9, 2012

MONTPELIER - The 2012 Legislative session is only a week old and Sens. Vince Illuzzi, R-Essex/Orleans, and Hinda Miller, D-Chittenden, are working on a bill that would make some changes to the healthcare reform bill enacted into law last year.
Illuzzi is concerned the 2011 law, which sets up the federally required health exchange, will effectively eliminate all but one insurance provider, leaving only Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont. Other private companies that have substantial health insurance businesses in Vermont, MVP and CIGNA, would most likely be forced out of the state.

Falcon Girls Take Second, Boys Seventh in Stowe

January 9, 2012

STOWE–The North Country nordic teams headed to the Mount Mansfield Resort Nordic Center in Stowe on Friday.
Christina Cotnoir was in attendance and said that, "The weather was mild and the atmosphere was festive! The race went quickly due to the mass starts. It was fun to watch as the skiers started en mass, furiously double-poling to gain a good position on the narrow trail which wound into the woods. The next time the skiers appeared was on the top of a hill. The spectators cheered all the skiers as they whizzed past us down the hill. Many spectacular crashes kept it exciting."
