ORLEANS–When fans came to the Ranger Field on Saturday morning for the Lake Region girls soccer team's game against Danville, they could feel a buzz in the air.
Maybe it was the electricity that accompanies homecoming weekend, or perhaps it was the beautiful autumn day.
But more than likely it was the fact that they had to chance to witness history being made, and that is exactly what they saw, as Tyrah Urie scored goals number 56 and 57 to break Richie Hackett's all-time goal scoring record.
Lake Region 1, Danville 1
ORLEANS–Alex Beauregard's 17th goal of the season helped secure a tie for Lake Region as they hosted Danville on Saturday afternoon in the second half of the homecoming soccer doubleheader.
Danville jumped out to the lead six minutes into the first half.
The Indians had been pressuring early, and their persistence was rewarded when Jason Sweet connected with Gabe Farr for the early tally.
Danville kept the pressure on after the goal, but Lake Region slowly started to get their game going.
