JAY-IT was not the prettiest of wins, but the North Country girls will take it, as they beat Hartford 4-2 on Monday evening.
All six goals were scored in the third period, with Hartford's Meghan Boardman getting the Hurricanes on the board first.
Savannah Alberghini-Giroux immediately tied the game on the very next shift, followed by two goals by Jenna Moss to make it 3-1 North Country.
Whitney Bernier upped the lead to 4-1 when her attempt at an empty net goal was blocked by a thrown stick, which automatically gave her the goal.
JAY-Despite being heavily outshot for most of the game the game, the North Country boys hockey team was skating neck and neck with the number two ranked Colchester Lakers before eventually falling by the score of 2-1.
Jared Antoniak had a goal in the first and one in the third to make it 2-0 Colchester before Nate Marsh brought the Falcons to within one at 2-1, and that is how the game ended.
North Country now stands at 4-2-1, and will get back at it on Saturday when they face top ranked CVU at the Cairns Arena. Puck drops at 8:15.
