Lady Rangers Rally Late, But Fall Short Against Yellow Jackets

ORLEANS–Despite rallying to tie the game in the third quarter, then briefly taking the lead in the fourth, the Lake Region girls basketball team suffered their second loss of the year at the hands of the Windsor Yellow Jackets on a frigid Monday evening.
"All night tonight we struggled with consistency," said LRU coach Joe Houston. "We had some runs when we did really good things then we would go back to doing things that gave them easy opportunities and easy baskets and we couldn't sustain the way we wanted to play long enough to build a lead and a cushion and get things going."

Mark Shelton Robbed Of Equipment And Gifts For Kids

DERBY – The popular local entertainer Mark Shelton says he was robbed of his possessions for his concerts. Shelton keeps a storage unit in Derby for his outdoor equipment for his concerts, including large speakers, costuming and other props.

New Radio Systems Cause Problems For Area Firefighters

ORLEANS COUNTY - New two-way radio systems have made it more difficult for some area fire departments to communicate.
As of the first of this year, the FCC required public service agencies across the country to change their two-way radio system to a new modern one called narrow band.

ST. ALBANS–Falcon captain Ryan Paul scored three goals, including the overtime game-winner, as the North Country boys hockey team defeat the BFA Bobwhites 4-3 on Saturday evening.
“We played very well," said NCU coach Ryan Jacobs. "We controlled most of the game, minus the final five minutes of regulation, but overall we outplayed them."
North Country got on the board early, as Paul staked his team to the 1-0 advantage in the first.
In the second Paul scored again to push the lead to 2-0 before BFA struck to make it a one goal game.

Barton Landowner Seeks Town Assistance With Flooding Problem

BARTON - Landowner Jay Walbert expressed dismay at a recent Barton Select Board meeting that a rebuilt road was diverting water onto his property. Walbert lives on Pageant Park Road on the cliffs that overlook Crystal Lake. According to Walbert, the road, which is uphill from his property, was rebuilt several years ago and he’s had water runoff problems ever since.

Legal Aid Helps Navigate Health Care Exchange

NEWPORT CITY - For consumers who are trying to work their way through the Health Care Exchange by the end of the month, Vermont Legal Aid is poised to help. A division of Legal Aid called the Health Care Ombudsman has changed its name to the Health Care Office. On Saturday, representatives held an Interactive TV meeting connecting with four libraries around the state.
