Santa Honored In Newport

The Christmas spirit was alive and well in Newport Saturday as the Newport Parks and Recreation, along with other partners, presented the Santa Festival. Activities included the Santa Run, a parade, and activities for all ages throughout the day. In the photo, Dozens of Santas make their way up Main Street. Community Members Honor Deceased Veterans

NEWPORT CITY – It’s Christmas time. In the tradition of giving, over the weekend dozens of area residents placed wreathes - close to 1,400 in all - on the graves of veterans buried in local cemeteries.
Robert Gosselin, owner of Spates the Florist and Garden Center, organized the annual Veterans Memorial Wreath Campaign, now in its fifth year.
“We are honoring our war heroes on their gravestones throughout the county,” said Gosselin. “We like to give back to the community, this is one of the largest projects we do.”

Public Addresses Concerns About Proposed Barton Solar Farm Project

BARTON - The Public Service Board held a public hearing at the Barton Memorial Building Thursday evening (December 5) to provide an opportunity for the board to hear comments about the petition by Barton Solar LLC for a certificate of public good for a proposed solar farm. Hearing Officer Andrew Flagg emphasized the comments should raise issues and perspectives the board can use to make a decision. The comments do not become part of any formal evidence in the case; however they will help to guide the board in arriving at a decision.

IN BARTON: Fifteenth Annual Moonlight Madness Exhibits NEK Businesses

Saturday was the 15th annual Moonlight Madness at the Barton Graded School. This NEK Chamber of Commerce event focuses on local crafters, products, and authors. This year 39 vendors filled the gym, cafeteria and “Author’s Alley” offering edible products, toys, office supplies, home goods, books, soaps, candles, and clothing.

Falcons Top Alexander Galt 6-4

STANSTEAD,QE-Ryan Paul scored three goals, and three other Falcons had a goal each as North Country defeated Alexander Galt in the final game of the Can-Am Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Paul had a goal in all three of the periods, while Ross DeLaBruere, Ryan O'Donell and Dawson Cote had the other three Falcon goals.

Falcons Score 6 in Win Over Greeley Rangers

December 6, 2013

STANSTEAD,QE-The North Country boys opened up their 2013-2014 hockey season with a 6-0 win over Greeley High from Cumberland, ME in the second game of the Can-Am Hockey Classic.
After a slow start, the Falcons picked up their game late in the first, as Ross DeLaBruere opened up the scoring with 5:18 left to go.
In the second, North Country kept improving, and they pumped home another three goals to make it 4-0.
Ryan Paul, Ross and Travis Tetreault had the three goals.

NCUHS Dance And Drama Concert

December 5, 2013

The NCUHS Dance and Drama department presented its winter concert Wednesday evening.
Students performed dance and theatrical acts throughout the evening at North Country Union High School Dance and Drama department’s winter concert Wednesday evening. Local singer Mark Shelton performed several pieces before the concert and during a couple of the dance pieces.
