DERBY – A Springfield, VT, truck driver walked away from a crash on Interstate 91 Monday night after his rig slid into the median and collided with some trees.
A Peterbuilt truck cab and trailer twisted and flipped over, leaving gullies dug into the dirt and its large wheels in the air. The cab was severely buckled on impact and both sections were declared totaled.

DERBY - The Derby Planning Commission is preparing for the future, especially in light of all the proposed development.
Monday evening, David Snedeker, of the Northern Vermont Development Association (NVDA), was present at the planning commission meeting. He said NVDA is required to look over town plans when new ones are developed. Snedeker pointed out what he thought was good in Derby’s plan, what he thought was missing, and where information should be expanded.
NEWPORT CITY - Area third grade students will have the opportunity to take a one-hour cruise on Lake Memphremagog in May and June. Chris Johansen, president of the Memphremagog Navigational Company, and Burlington developer Tony Pomerleau are working together to make the cruise possible.
Johansen is in the process of getting his newest boat, the Northern Star, ready for its maiden voyage in May. He purchased the boat from Green Mountain Boat Lines last year.
