NEWPORT/DERBY â The Newport and Derby area will come alive the last weekend in September as it hosts the Newport Fall Foliage Festival.
Event organizers say there will be everything from a street parade of antique and classic cars, to an arts and crafts show, chili contest, strolling street musicians, cycling event, a scarecrow contest, and even a Rotary Duck Race.
The area is promoting itself as âWhere Fall Foliage Beginsâ in Vermont, a state known world-wide for its fabulous fall foliage.
JAY â Jay Peak Resort president Bill Stenger met with members of the media and local officials Friday as he described the progress that has been made with the Northeast Kingdom Economic Development Initiative (NEKEDI) over the last year and gave an update on future projects in the City of Newport.
ORLEANS-Haley Kennedy popped in a goal just two and a half minutes into the first half, and that is all the Lady Rangers would need, as they went on to defeat Lamoille 2-0 on Saturday morning.
"I'm happy to get a win against a Division II team," said LR coach Brad Urie. "(Lamoille) played two tough games before this one, and I knew they were ready to win, thankfully it wasn't against us."
