Falcons, UCA Lose, Lady Rangers Win in Girls Soccer

ST. ALBANS-Phoebe Martell-Crawford scored 19:03 into the first half to help give BFA St. Albans the 1-0 win over the North Country Falcons.
"They are a very skilled team and they totally dominated us early on," said NCU coach Peter Alexander.
The Falcons, who are still adapting to their new home in the Metro, where able to gather their bearings and regroup in the second half.
"We had four golden chances to tie the game in the second half, but we just could not finish. They deserved the win." Alexander said. "We are still getting used to the tempo of this level."

Doty Could Miss Falcons' Metro Initiation With ACL Injury

LYNDON-Lyndon Institute's Emily Doty has reportedly been sidelined with an ACL injury.
According to people close to the situation, Doty will not be able to participate in the winter sports season, and that could impact the Falcons' move to Division I.
Not much more is available as of this time, but we will update as soon as possible.

SWEET SCOOPS FOR SWEET TOOTHS

DERBY – A college business plan evolved from a dream to reality as Matt Wright opened his second Sweet Scoops ice cream stand. Six years ago, the first Sweet Scoops was opened at the ice skating shack on the town green next to the junior high school in Derby Center; a second shop has opened in Vergennes.

DRIFT DUSTERS WINS VAST BEST IN STATE AWARD

DERBY - The Drift Dusters Snowmobile Club of Derby received the 2012-2013 Vermont Association of Snow Travelers' Snowmobile Club of the Year Award at the Annual Meeting at Jay Peak Resort Aug. 10. The award is given to the club that demonstrated excellence during the 2012-2013 Snowmobile Season. It is the highest award given by VAST annually.

Falcon XC Features Exciting Mix of Veterans and Rookies

NEWPORT–The 2013 North Country Cross Country team is looking get out of the gates a little earlier than they have in past seasons.
Traditionally the Falcons have not been very aggressive in the early going, using a more gradual, progressional style of seasonal maturation.
This season, head Coach Chris Shaffer will have his team at the Essex Invitational this weekend, and he believes that being at the event will help his team in the long run.
