HOLLAND - Emergency responders extricated 69-year-old Robert Maple of Morgan from his 2006 GMC pick-up truck Monday, after the vehicle left the Valley Road and rolled over into a field. The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m.
Senior Trooper Amy Borsari said that Maple told firefighters he believed that he had blacked out because he didn't remember anything. Marks on the blacktop indicated the truck's passenger side tires caught the dirt on the edge of the road.
It appears Maple applied the truck's brakes and attempted to steer toward the left, Borsari said.
FERDINAND – The energy company that wanted to construct a 35-turbine wind farm on Seneca Mountain has scaled back plans and is now considering a 17-turbine project instead. The amount of energy produced would be about 60 megawatts instead of the 90 to 100 megawatts planned in the previous project.
The previous plan ignited opposition from Brighton and Newark residents but, according to a nonbinding vote, people living in the Unified Towns and Gorges (UTG) are more receptive to the idea.
