Glover Defeats Irasburg to Win OCSU Soccer Title

GLOVER-The Glover Eagles hosted the 2013 Orleans Central Supervisory Union Playoff tournament this year and ended the year as champions. The teams that were in the play-offs were Barton, Brownington, Coventry, Glover and Irasburg. Irasburg came in second, Barton in third, Coventry in fourth and Brownington in fifth.
The final game went into to overtime with Riley Urie scoring in double OT for Glover to win it all. Thanks for everyone who came and joined us on cold day to support our teams.

Self-Defense Class in Newport

NEWPORT CITY - In today's world, many people feel vulnerable to attacks. That feeling increases for those who have a disability or are elderly. However, thanks to the local chapter of Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impared (VAB), those demographics can feel safer thanks to a self-defense class taught at the Emory Hebard State Office Building.

Scout Food Drive A Success!

November 2, Cub Scout Pack 830 and Girl Scout Troop 30100 was out in force on this wet rainy day, but that didn't stop these kids from walking with pride going door to door in Derby, Derby Line, and Newport. These kids asked community members to help them support the local food shelf for Hungerfest 2013.

Hunt of a Lifetime

Essex County––  Of all the moose hunting stories to come out of the Island Pond check in station since the first State of Vermont moose hunt in 1993, one hunter and her story was particularly interesting this year. For thirteen year old Emily Schneider from St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania who bagged her big bull moose, it was literally the “hunt of a lifetime.”
