ORLEANS-When you enter the second season, you have to take it one game at a time. Don’t look ahead , don’t be distracted and keep your focus.
That is exactly what the Lake Region Ranger boys did Wednesday night, as they demolished visiting Springfield 76-45 in the play-down round of the Division II bracket.
The Rangers may have gotten a break as they will take on Otter Valley, the number 11 seed as they pulled off the overtime upset, beating number six seed Mill River 77-72. A player to watch Saturday will be OV’s Ryan Kelley, who jacked up 43 points in the win.

DERBY CENTER - The face of education is changing, Superintendent Dr. Robert Kern told members of the North Country Union Junior High School Board recently, as they discussed the possibility of a middle school on the west side of the supervisory district. “The issue of equitable education is being addressed and may at some point be mandated,” he said.
“If a middle school is built on the west side, we are considering including grades six through eight; that will free space at the elementary schools for pre-kindergarten programs, which the state may someday mandate.”
