DERBY – An inspirational idea by Anthony Moccia and Heidi Myers to create a new fundraiser for the Mary Wright Halo Foundation has led to instant success. A 60-mile bicycle ride through six Orleans County towns, 40 miles of which are on dirt roads, drew roughly 250 enthusiastic participants. Another 100 registered.
The event took place on Saturday, and judging by the successful debut of this cycling race, expect a second annual race next year.

DERBY LINE – A long line of traffic on a warm muggy day didn't dampen the enthusiasm of this group of young adults waiting to enter Canada from Derby Line, Monday.
There were reported traffic delays of at least one hour. There were also similar reports at other area border crossings. The traffic jams came on Labor Day weekend, ending the unofficial summer season. Now it’s time to get ready for winter. Cheer up folks, spring will be here before we know it.
