Falcons Tie, Rangers Win, More

WATERBURY-After getting down 2-0 through two periods of play, the North Country Falcons scored twice in the third to force overtime, and the eventual tie with the Harwood Highlanders.
“We’ve played better, but we came to play,” said NCU coach Claude Paul.
It would be the power-play doing the damage for the Falcons in third period.
Working with a 5-3 advantage, Whitney Bernier converted a pass from Taylor Morley to make it 2-1.

DeLaBruere’s Hat Trick Leads Falcons Past Rice Green Knights

JAY-In Monday night’s make-up game between the North Country Falcons and the Rice Green Knights, the Knights were no match for the stellar offense from the home team Falcons, as Ross DeLaBruere’s hat trick led North Country past Rice 7-2.
Ryan Paul and Travis Tetreault were also big contributors in this game, as each player had two goals.

Derby Town Plan Ready For Voter Approval

DERBY - On Wednesday, January 22 the Derby select board held the second of two public hearings for residents to ask questions and make comments regarding the proposed new town plan. Following a short discussion following the hearing the select board unanimously agreed to send the proposal to voters on Town Meeting Day. The vote will be by Australian ballot.

NCH ‘Holding Hands’ With Change

The focus of North Country Hospital’s (NCH) annual meeting Thursday at the East Side Restaurant was on its many accomplishments and change. The hospital has been in the news lately for some problems it is dealings with like the OSHA violations, and layoffs, among others, but there were many accomplishments over the past year.

High School Students Rock The Kingdom

NEWPORT CITY - Friday night the North Country Union High School auditorium turned into a magical venue for seven bands from that school, North Country Union Junior High School and Lake Region Union High School, who put on a rock concert that left the audience screaming for more.

Ice Fishing Tourney Benefits Derby Line Fire Department

MORGAN - Supporters of the Derby Line Fire Department will host an ice fishing derby at Seymour Lake in Morgan next weekend. The event unofficially started more than ten years ago, but as support grew, the fundraiser was formally organized around four years ago.
