NEWPORT CITY – Anyone wishing to take in a movie anytime in the immediate future will have to look farther than the Waterfront Cinemas.
Tony Pomerleau, owner of the Waterfront Plaza, confirmed the theater closed Saturday.

Glover Ambulance Squad Looks For $16k For Life Saving Machine

Glover Ambulance Squad has launched a fundraiser aimed at collecting close to $16,000. This money will go to the purchase of a LUCAS CPR machine to benefit the lower region of Orleans County.

Newport City Residents To See 3.6 Percent Tax Increase

NEWPORT CITY – City residents can expect a 3.6 percent increase on their tax bills for 2014-2015, while non-city residents who own property in Newport can expect to see a 4 percent increase.

MONTPELIER (AP) — Former Vermont U.S. Sen. James Jeffords, who in 2001 tipped control of the Senate when he quit the Republican Party to become an independent, died Monday. He was 80.

Kingdom Community Wind: Sound Levels Meet Standards In Latest Round Of Testing

Green Mountain Power (GMP) has its results from its latest round of sound monitoring at the Kingdom Community Wind facility in Lowell. According to the monitoring results filed with the Vermont Public Service Board, sound levels fell within the allowable limits, GMP announced last Thursday.

Terry Lumbra Retires After 37 Years As Cook AT Holland Elementary

Born in Hartford, Conn., Terry Lumbra’s family moved to Holland, Vt. and here she still lives with her husband DeForrest Lumbra Jr. This month Lumbra retired after working for 37 years as a cook at the Holland Elementary School.

Orleans County Fair Ends With A Bang

BARTON - The Orleans County Fair ended Sunday with its traditional demolition derby sending once shiny, new vehicles that someone worked hard to earn, to nothing but crumble pieces of junk.
While some cars went down early in the trials, many made it to the finals and went out in a blaze of glory.
