U.S. News And World Report Recognizes Lake Region Union High School

BARTON - For a third straight year Lake Region Union High School has received a prestigious award recognizing the school’s academic achievement. The U.S. News and World Report rewarded the school with a silver medal, ranking eighth in the state of Vermont. Last year the school finished third in the state.

Reining Hope Provides Special Horse And Person Connection

MORGAN - Reining Hope Adaptive Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies provides an opportunity to traditional horse enthusiasts and those with disabilities a safe place to ride and learn about horses.
Kristin Mason, owner and program director at Reining Hope, said her organization is entering its second year.

North Country Picks Up Third Loss Against Middlebury

NEWPORT-The North Country boys tennis team returned to action on Monday after their spring break.
Their opponent on this lightly overcast day was the Middlebury Tigers, and it was the visiting squad coming up with the 4-3 win to improve to 1-1 on the year.
The play on Monday was actually quite even, but having to forfeit the number two doubles match is what did the Falcons in on this day, as it was the deciding factor in the match.

Executive Director Of NCIC Keynote Speaker At Chamber Meeting

NEWPORT CITY - Vermont’s North Country Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting last week, an event highlighted by Jon Freeman, head of NCIC. The Northern Community Investment Corporation, whose headquarters are in St. Johnsbury, serves the Northeast Kingdom. The organization helps mature and new businesses grow by providing business acumen and technical support.

Fairfax Scores Early and Often, Tops Lake Region 27-4

ORLEANS–BFA Fairfax scored twelve runs in the top of the first inning, and that was more then enough as the Lady Bullets defeated the Lady Rangers 27-4.
"It was a miserable, miserable, miserable day," said LR coach Matt Tinker. "We need to get mentally tougher when we are in the middle of a bad inning, and get of quicker than we are. Call me crazy, but I think we did do some good things against the best pitcher we are going to face all year, and I am looking forward to seeing them again when the weather is warmer."
