Derby Walmart: Planning Commission Considers Site Plan

DERBY – Jeff Davis of Shattuck Hill Investments, along with his engineers, pitched site plans to build a 160,000 square foot Walmart supercenter store between the Derby Road and Shattuck Hill Road to the Derby Planning Commission Monday night.

Homelessness Is An Issue In The NEK

NEWPORT CITY – Think homelessness is a big city problem that doesn’t exist in the Northeast Kingdom? Think again. In 2012, according to the latest solid figures available, Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) provided 240 individuals with emergency shelter and financial assistance to keep another 190 people housed.

Concert Saturday To Raise Money For Homeless

In an effort to help with the homeless situation, the Home Team, which consists of caring volunteers, will host a family oriented benefit show Saturday, June 21, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the American Legion Newport.

OEC Kings Split in Season Opening Doubleheader

MONTPELIER VT-- The OEC Kings won game one of their double header at Montpelier High School against Post #3 by a score of 12-0 in five innings.
Danville's Brett Elliott picked up the win, going four innings and allowing three hits. Saint Johnsbury's Chris Connolly pitched a scoreless fifth inning to close things out.
On offense for the Kings, Lyndon's Davis Guyer went 2 for 3 with a double and triple while driving in four runs. North Country's Wyatt Prue doubled, drove in two runs, and scored three times.

NorthWoods Stewardship Center: Plans In Works To Build Sleeping Quarters

CHARLESTON - The NorthWoods Stewardship Center is preparing to add a 24-foot by 40-foot bunkhouse to accommodate up to 20 people. The project is in the planning stage, but Operations Director Jayson Benoit told Charleston’s planning commission the project is in the works.

Mark Amey of Clarksville, NH displays a cement mixer his neighbor built in the 1920s. His neighbor created the mixer to pour his own foundation, then left the contraption in the garage ever since.
