Chargers Dominate Wildcats, Pick up 5-0 Win

CRAFTSBURY-The Craftsbury Chargers played host to the Concord Wildcats on Thursday afternoon, and right from the start fans could tell it was going to be a good game for the home team.
Craftsbury scored twice in the opening two minutes en route to picking up a 5-0 win to move to 5-1 on the year.
"It was a good game for us," said CA coach Mike Reutz. "We possessed the ball well and we did the things that we do in practice, which is huge, it is a big step. It was also nice to get some of our second string players into the game and get their confidence up where it needs to be."

Urie Nets Game Winner Late as Rangers Stay Unbeaten

ORLEANS-The Lake Region Rangers put their 4-0 record on the line Wednesday afternoon as they welcomed in the Peoples Academy Wolves one day after the LR girls did the same.
Tuesday saw the Lady Rangers lose their undefeated streak in a close 2-1 loss.
On Wednesday the tides would change, as Riley Urie's game winner with 2:30 left to go in the second gave the Rangers a 2-1 victory and bumped up their record to 5-0 on the year.

Brighton Selectmen Reject PETA Offer For New Sign

It didn’t take long for the Brighton select board to decide Tuesday night they would not take PETA up on an offer for a free radar speed sign. With a quick motion to add an official letter from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization to the agenda, board Chairman Melinda Gervais-Lemoureux said she hadn’t really been prepared for the controversy the issue created.

NCH Joins Statewide Information Sharing Network

NEWPORT CITY – The North Country Hospital medical staff is working this week to get trained on a computer system that will tie the hospital to the other 14 hospitals in the state, plus Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

Derby Zoning Board Tables St. Edward Preschool Application

St. Edward Catholic Church wants a permit for up to 100 kids for its preschool and afterschool program. The application was tabled at a Derby Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting Monday evening pending more information.

Cornelius Bail Reduced In Abuse Prevention Order Case

September 16, 2014

The Newport man in the news for a homicide is in prison for allegedly violating an abuse prevention order. Christian Cornelius, 31, saw his bail reduced from $25,000 to $15,000 Tuesday in a hearing.

Solar Company Pitches Plans To Derby Board Of Selectmen

A Vermont solar power company wants to build a project in Derby. Henry Bell with Green Peak Solar out of Waitsfield attended the Derby selectmen’s meeting Monday evening to present his plans and find out if the town is interested.
