Sen. Leahy Celebrates REAP Zone Designation In Newport

Senator Patrick Leahy joined with state and local leaders to celebrate the reauthorization of the Rural Economic Area Partnership (REAP zone) for the Northeast Kingdom. The REAP zone was included in this year’s newly passed five-year farm bill.

Leahy Congratulates Revision On Government Contract

NEWPORT CITY - In January Revision Military won a contract to produce 90,000 helmets for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Tuesday U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy met with company officials in private before meeting the employees who make the protective helmets that saved many lives of overseas service personnel.

Alleged Rooftop Gunman Back In Court Facing New Charges

March 17, 2014

NEWPORT CITY - A Newport man who held police at bay for several hours last September was back in court Monday to answer a felony charge of unlawful trespass of an occupied residence and misdemeanor charges of unlawful trespass-land, disorderly conduct, and violation of conditions of pretrial release. Derick Niles, 36, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
