North Country Holds Off Colchester, Rematch With SBHS Up Next

March 7, 2013

JAY–the North Country-Colchester quarter-final game at the Ice Haus Arena was a place where hockey cliche´s went to die.
The two goal lead is the most dangerous lead in hockey, and it is hard to beat a team three times in a row, two of the most common phrases in the game, were both vanquished as the Falcons earned the 3-1 win.
North Country played a good chunk of the game up by two goals (that's one), defeated Colchester for the third straight time this year (that's two), and now have earned a date with South Burlington on Saturday afternoon.

March 7, 2013

BHS 58, NCU 32
BURLINGTON–North Country's foray into the 2013 post-season came to a close on Wednesday night, as they fell to the Burlington Seahorses.
"We didn't win, but it is nice to be associated with a great group of girls," said NCU coach Christiane Brown.
Offense was hard to come by for the Falcons in the first half, as they managed only twelve points in the opening sixteen minutes.
Things would get betting in the second half, as the Falcons would eventually out-score the Seahorses 13-12 in the final quarter, but by then it was too late.

NEWPORT TOWN GOES SOLAR

March 6, 2013

NEWPORT CENTER - Voters decided to go green by appropriating not more than $200,000 of unreserved funds for the purpose of a community energy solar garden. The fund currently has $339,108.
A solar panel array will provide electricity to town owned buildings, reducing electricity costs by as much as $7,500 annually for the first two years. Savings increase from there.
The town has two different proposed locations on Vance Hill for the panels. The panels are warranted to provide power at 100 percent for 25 years. After that, they will diminish in power two percent per year over time.
