Hardwickâ€“ Solange â€śSallyâ€ť Rolande McAllister, 88, of Hardwick died Sunday February 19, 2012 at the Greensboro Nursing Home. She was born June 25, 1923 in Westfield, the daughter of the late Oliver and Olivina (Neunier) Pion.

Neither Senator Robert (Bobby) Starr nor his son Eric Starr, listed as the principal of the company on the Internet, would confirm the information. Bobby Starr did not return multiple phone calls and Eric Starr refused to comment of the companyâ€™s plans.
Six of Starrâ€™s employees, including Eric Starr, were kept on by Bellavance; others who did not want to go with the company found other jobs or retired, Bellavance said.
NEWPORT CITY â€“ Two years ago, Fr. Shiju Chittattukkara, S.D.V, left his home in southern India to spread the Catholic word in the United States. His first stop was St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Newport. Last Thursday, Chittattukkara left Newport to serve at Our Lady of Solace in Coney Island, N.Y.
Chittattukkara came to Newport as an assistant pastor to Father Michael Reardon. Chittattukkara had been a priest for a year and a half before coming to Newport. This was his first time in the United States. Prior to coming to the Northeast Kingdom, he knew nothing about Newport.

Our beloved mother, wife and grandmother, Ellen Macomber Young, died in her daughtersâ€™ arms on February 7, 2012, at the age of 92 in Denver, Colorado. She was born at home in North Troy, Vermont, on December 12, 1919. Her mother knew the doctor was on his way because she heard the sleigh bells.
NORTH TROY â€“ The Troy School Board held a special meeting Wednesday evening to outline plans to renovate and improve the Troy Elementary School. The board is asking voters to approve a $2,208,000 bond Tuesday, Feb. 21.
"The Troy School was built in 1978 and has had very little done to it in the past 34 years,â€ť states an informational sheet handed out to voters.
The heating system and sprinkler system are in the process of breaking down. The committee would like to replace the dry sprinkler system with a less expensive wet one.
DERBY - Derby Line Village Clerk Karen Jenne, who also serves on the Derby Select Board, was one of four area residents to go to Montpelier Monday for a prehearing conference on the proposed Derby Line Wind Project.
The Derby Line Trustees and the Village of Derby Center Trustees authorized Jenne to represent each at the hearing. Jenne was also authorized to represent the International Water Company.
BRIGHTON - The Island Pond Chamber of Commerce proved the third time was a charm with their latest dinner theater fundraiser.
The â€śfree-wheelinâ€™ murder mysteryâ€ť written and directed by Susan-Lynn Johns took place the last weekend in January at the American Legion. â€śMurder with a Country Twangâ€ť was presented during dinner on Saturday, Jan. 28, to a packed house. On on Sunday, Jan. 29, guests had a choice of desserts to choose from during an afternoon show.
During each show, several door prizes were presented and Director Johns was presented with a gift from the cast.
