NEWPORT CITY â€“ Three Newport men and an unnamed juvenile face multiple charges for allegedly stealing items from parked cars in Newport New Yearâ€™s Eve.
Dereck Collins (20), Robert Knox (21) and Glen Boule (19) entered not guilty pleas in Orleans County Court Tuesday. All three men face felony charges of grand larceny and of having stolen property. They also face multiple misdemeanor charges.
Judge Robert Bent held Boule on $5,000 bail Tuesday. Bent released Collins and Knox on conditions.
NEWPORT, VT - Scammers pretending to be from Microsoft are trying to rip off your computer access information.
Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell recently issued a warning to computer owners about a scam in which people receive calls from a "Microsoft" certified technician who will inform you that your computer is badly infected by a virus and you need to take immediate action to fix the problem.
The goal of the scammer is to get the victim to log onto a certain website that allows the scammer to take remote access of the computer.
NEWPORT CITY â€“ Joshua Fontaine, 21, of Barton, is out on conditions after entering not guilty pleas to six felony charges of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
On Feb. 3, 2012, someone told state police that Fontaine forced a friend to perform sexual acts on him.

(AP) â€” A Vermont snowplow driver who wanted to "get a girl" was accused Wednesday along with his wife of luring a popular prep school teacher from her home by pretending their vehicle had broken down, then beating and strangling her, stripping her body naked and throwing it into the Connecticut River.
Allen Prue, 30, and Patricia Prue, 33, of Waterford, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Melissa Jenkins, whose SUV was found idling along a remote road near her St. Johnsbury home on Sunday with her unharmed 2-year-old inside.

With members of the team arriving just hours before game time, it is understandable that they may not have had their legs ready for the 7:00 am start time.
