Lake Region's baseball team picked up two wins late last week to improve their record to 3-1.
On Thursday, the boys traveled to Danville, where they earned a hard fought, 11 inning 4-3 win over the Indians.
Alex Menard, Dustin Bathalon and Logan Harper each doubled for the Rangers, while Matt Messier improved his hitting streak to 3 games in a row.Â
Messier started the game, going 6 innings and allowing two runs. Logan Harper came in for relief for 4 innings to get the win, and Isaac Sweeney earned the save.
On Saturday, Lake Region won a high scoring affair against Winooski 12-10.
WINOOSKI-For the second time in four contests this season, the Lake Region Rangers softball team took out their whoopin’ sticks, as they trounced Winooski Saturday morning, 37-1 in girls high school action.
Earlier in the week, the Rangers traveled to Danville, where they dropped a tough-to-swallow 8-4 contest.

SOFTBALL
NCU 9, Rice 4
So. BURLINGTON–Anna Bingham drove in 3 runs as the Falcons earned their 1st win of the season against Rice.
Taylor Blake got the win for 1-3 No. Country, striking out 9 batters in 7 innings of work.
The girls will look to make it 2 in a row when they travel to take on BFA St. Albans on Tuesday at 4:30.
BASEBALL
Rice 15, NCU 0
So. BURLINGTON–Rice's 20 hits were too much for the Falcons on Thursday, as they lost to move to 0-4 in 2013.
Wyatt Prue took the loss for NCU, while Will Conroy picked up the win for the Green Knights.
Guyette–– Rosalie L., 86, of Derby, VT passed away peacefully on April 24, 2013 surrounded by her family in Burlington, VT.Â
