BARTON - And they're off!
Despite the cold, wet weather, Thanksgiving morning found participants in Bartonâ€™s annual Turkey Trot warmed up and ready to go.
Racers came in all ages, sizes, and choices of clothing. A record breaking 402 people participated, 189 runners and 213 walkers â€“ and one girl on a bicycle.
Spirits were high, the runners were in fine form, and it all goes to show that Thanksgiving isnâ€™t just for turkeys.
DERbY - More than 300 came together for the annual Thanksgiving Day community celebration at the Elks Club in Derby. The event was a joint effort between the Elks Club, the First Universalist Parish of Derby Line, the Area Agency on Aging, and many others.
NEWPORT CITY â€“ State police say a Newport man stole $6,200 from the father of his former girlfriend, and the father followed the clues to the doorstep of the accused.
Tuesday, Daniel Beaumont, 23, entered pleas of not guilty to a felony charge of grand larceny and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a depressant, stimulant or narcotic.
On Sept. 27, 2010, Todd Willis reported that someone stole a lockbox located in a closet in his Derby home. The box contained cash wrapped in currency wrappers and the bills were in sequential order. The box also contained several vehicle titles.
