Firefighters extinguish a fire in a dumpster at the Eastside Restaurant Saturday evening.
Firefighters were called to the restaurant around 8 p.m. The cause of the fire that spread to the fence around the dumpster is unknown. The smoke was extensive but the damage was localized.

Newport area Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts held a brief ceremony, which included raising the Flag of Heroes in Railroad Square. The flag is similar to the American Flag in shape and design but has the name of every person who was killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.Â
SHEFFIELD â Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of when 78-year-old Pat OâHagan disappeared. On Oct. 3, hunters discovered OâHaganâs body in Wheelock, about 10 miles from her home. Police called her death a homicide.
Major Ed Ledo, of the Vermont State Police, held a press conference at the Sheffield Town Hall Friday. He said law enforcement officers believe more than one person was involved with the crime. Based on information that came in during the investigation, police searched two nearby bodies of water, Ledo said, but he did not say what evidence was being sought.
