DERBY – Local Walmart proponents are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel on getting their very own big box store.
“Everything is squared away,” said Sen. Robert Starr of North Troy.Â
Walmart and property owner Jeff Davis of Burlington are happy, Starr said.
Starr is organizing a formal announcement for sometime in early to mid-January. Local and state officials will take part in the announcement, which will most likely take place on the Newport-Derby line.
"Hopefully, it will keep money from going to New Hampshire,” Starr said.
NEWPORT - Enhanced driver’s licenses (EDL) for border crossing are now available in Newport Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), officials announced Thursday. Local and State officials alike are excited about it.
NEWPORT CITY – Sometimes writing on city sidewalks isn't child’s play. That's the message the court sent Diane Peel, Jack Rogers and Tom Farrow when it ordered them to pay a fine of $50 apiece for doing just that.
Friday morning, Lamoille County Assistant Judge Karen Bradley handed down the fines.
During an interview last summer, Peel said she wrote things like: “Big Corporations don’t care about your health, buy local,” “Support Community Gardens,” “It’s your town, take control,” and “What would you like to see on Main Street?” with an arrow pointing to an empty storefront.
