ORLEANS – “Move forward – the only direction. Can’t be scared to fail – search and perfection.â€
Those were the words Lake Region Union High School Senior Tyler Vezina brought to his fellow graduates Sunday. He was quoting Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter.
Darren Perron, a 1991 Lake Region Graduate and WCAX-TV anchor, introduced Vezina, who did an internship at the television station and presented this year’s student address. Vezina called himself a regular guy who is good at public speaking. He told the class that graduation is the end of many things.
NEWPORT - Approximately 235 students graduated from North Country Union High School in the 45th commencement ceremony Saturday. Although skies were blue without a cloud in sight, the uncertain weather forecast prompted plans for an indoor event.
Principal William Rivard talked about students experiencing the joys of success and sadness of loss through their high school years. He said the graduates have developed relationships with many who will continue to make a positive difference in their lives as they go into the world and make a positive difference for others.
MARSHFIELD - Sometimes being a good Samaritan just doesn't pay, as two people from Orleans found out when a man pulled a gun on them and chased them at high speeds through Marshfield.
June 8, around 9:50 PM, Dan Greenwood (operator, 36) and Jennifer Eldridge (passenger, 32), both of Orleans, were traveling east on US RT 2 in Marshfield, VT. As Greenwood entered the village, he observed a vehicle on the side of the road with the hazard lights flashing and a lone male outside of the vehicle. Greenwood stopped to help.
