JAY SAGA CONTINUES

JAY PEAK – Jay Peak Resort can now boat that it hosts the world’s first Burton Board Training Center.
Bill Stenger, president of Jay Peak Resort, and Jeff Bolida, vice president of Global Resorts for Burton Snowboards, cut the ribbon at the opening of the all new Jay Peak Burton Board Training Center.
As Stenger stated, “It's not often you can say you are the first of its kind in the world, but we can with this opening.”
Bigger than life carved figures from "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" welcomed children to the center.

LOCAL LEGISLATORS TAKE AIM AT GUN LAWS

NEWPORT CITY – In the wake of the Newtown, CT, school shooting last month, lawmakers across the country are considering stricter gun regulations. However, Vermont legislators, at least the local ones, say such regulations need to come from the federal government.
“That’s a federal domain, I believe,” said Sen. Robert Starr from North Troy. “They dictate what happens and when it happens.”

NCU BAND PLANS RETURN TRIP TO DISNEY

NEWPORT - Band director Bill Prue and students Zack Tweed and Rebecca Young provided the North Country Union High School Board last Tuesday with a review of last spring's trip to Disney World in Florida. The field trip wasn't only about having fun, said Prue. “The trip addressed standards of music, it's relationship with other mediums, and proper etiquette.”
“Many of the 57 students haven't traveled outside the Northeast Kingdom, much less flown on an airplane,” Prue observed. “That in itself was quite an experience.”
