NEWPORT CITY – In the wake of the Newtown, CT, school shooting last month, lawmakers across the country are considering stricter gun regulations. However, Vermont legislators, at least the local ones, say such regulations need to come from the federal government.
“That’s a federal domain, I believe,” said Sen. Robert Starr from North Troy. “They dictate what happens and when it happens.”
NEWPORT - Band director Bill Prue and students Zack Tweed and Rebecca Young provided the North Country Union High School Board last Tuesday with a review of last spring's trip to Disney World in Florida. The field trip wasn't only about having fun, said Prue. “The trip addressed standards of music, it's relationship with other mediums, and proper etiquette.”
“Many of the 57 students haven't traveled outside the Northeast Kingdom, much less flown on an airplane,” Prue observed. “That in itself was quite an experience.”
