LOWELL â Residents once again Monday night took on the issue of crime in Lowell.
For the past several months, numerous residents have been victims of burglaries. On Town Meeting Day, residents rejected the appropriation requested for law enforcement coverage by the Orleans County Sheriff Department, which means the department no longer serves the town. Voters will have an opportunity to reconsider their decision May 7. Until then, town officials and residents are looking for answers from the Vermont State Police.
NEWPORT, VT â Well, maybe not seven exactly. More like eleven female artists were on hand at the MAC Center (Memphremagog Arts Collaborative) on Main Street, Newport, on Saturday to demonstrate their craft and honor the only Vermont commemoration of SWAN Day.
This celebration, held in 23 countries, encourages people to âsupport women artists now.â âThe long term goal of SWAN Day,â according to the center, âis to inspire communities to recognize and support women artists as a basic element of civic planning.â
