HOLLAND â€“ The Holland Elementary School went into a modified lock-down Thursday morning following the termination of an employee. The lock down will last two days.
No threats had been made as of Thursday afternoon, Principal Linda Phelan said.
The school already locks its doors to the building and each classroom door. The new measure calls for keeping the students inside for recess and during afterschool programs. Parents were notified over the Alert Now phone system, which calls all parents at the same time and gives a message.
DERBY LINE â€“ Perry Hunt stepped down fromÂ the Derby Line Board of Trustees Tuesday at the annual village meeting. He and his wife Pat Hunt are moving to a different town.
Hunt moved to Derby Line 43 years ago and served as a trustee for the village for about two decades. Over the years on the board he faced the â€śgood, the bad, and turmoil,â€ť but says he knows the village will continue to survive because itâ€™s a special place.

NEWPORT CITY â€“ Some of the best high school musicians from throughout the area will perform Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at the Northeastern Vermont Music Festival. The festival, now in its 69th year, is sponsored by the Newport Rotary Club and will be held at North Country Union High School.
