NEWPORT CITY – Just in time for the first day of school on Tuesday, the Newport City Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with North Country Union High School Monday to have Newport City Patrol Officer Richard Wells on campus during school hours. Medicaid will pay an amount not to exceed $40,000 to cover the cost.

VERMONT OLD TYME KETTLE CORN

NEWPORT CITY – Entrepreneurs Luc and Rhonda Quirion of Newport have decided to start a new business working together selling kettle corn.
“We'll be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary this year,” said Luc. “The first four years of our marriage we did everything together, then we had kids. Everything then centered around the kids until they went off to college.”

NEWPORT – Well-known local artist Alyssa DeLaBruere has opened a new art gallery and studio on East Main Street, Newport, called “Atelier Art Studio.” Atelier means artist’s workshop in French. DeLaBruere, an accomplished artist in acrylic, watercolor and silk, teaches art at United Christian Academy and has taught art to people of all ages for many years. Her new studio offers space for workshops and lessons, and a gallery of DeLaBruere’s work, some of which is for sale.
