NEWPORT CITY â€“ Each year, tens of thousands of people lose their lives to suicide. Saturday morning, over 100 people gathered in Gardner Park for the annual Out of the Darkness Walk, sponsored by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
The purpose of the walk is to bring light to the issue of suicide, said Mary Butler. Butler spoke about her trip to Newport Saturday morning and seeing the sunlight in the night sky.

DERBY â€“ Construction on the Louis Garneau facility on the Derby Road is underway.
Company officials announced in July that they planned to build a larger facility in Derby. Louis Garneauâ€™s U.S. headquarters will remain in Newport before the big move to Derby.
