Gardner Park Restoration Project Underway

NEWPORT – Two local moms were discouraged after going to Gardner Park because much of the equipment is outdated, and not fully up to safety standards. The equipment is also geared towards older children leaving few options for young kids. These two moms decided to take their dismay and flip it into something positive — working to restore the park.

LAKE REGION UNION HIGH SCHOOL: Exchange Students Enjoy American Experience

BARTON — Lake Region Union High School is hosting four exchange students from Europe as part of the Program for Academic Exchange (PAX). The students connect with PAX to find communities throughout the USA that are willing to host them for a five- to ten-month experience.

The Home Team Provides Survival Kits To The Homeless

NEWPORT CITY - On a cold winter morning late last year, Neil Morrissette saw someone sleeping in a corner of the Emory Hebard State Office Building on his way to work at Creative Workforce Solutions Morrissette, decided to help the homeless in the region.
Morrissette brought his idea of making emergency kits to the Home Team, a local group of Christian believers of which he is a member, who try to help those in distress.
