Seymour Lake Association Files Suit Against ANR

MORGAN - The Seymour Lake Association (SLA) filed a lawsuit against the Agency of Nature Resources (ANR) in Orleans County Superior Court — Civil Division Wednesday.

Troy Taxpayers To Vote On Additional Bond Money Friday

TROY - The Troy Elementary School board is asking voters on Friday to add an additional $287,300 to a million dollar bond that was approved on Town Meeting Day. Cost estimates for the upgrades were substantially higher than originally estimated.

Derby Line Picks Contractor For Water Line Project

DERBY LINE - Derby Line trustees picked at Stowe contractor to install a water line from the village to the elementary school.
Village trustees met with representatives from Aldrich and Elliott, an engineering firm from Essex Junction, to sign the bid with the contractor who will install a new water line.

Former Irasburg Treasurer Will Go Back To Civil Court

Linda Stone, the former Irasburg treasurer who says she was forced out of the position by the select board, will take her case back to the Civil Division of Orleans Superior Court after the Vermont Supreme Court reversed some of the trial court’s rulings.

NEWPORT CITY SCHOOL: Meet And Greet With New Assistant Principal

NEWPORT CITY - The newly hired assistant principal, Melinda Mascolino, met with the faculty and staff at Newport Elementary School on Tuesday. A “meet-and-greet” session was held at the school library where outgoing principal Bob Midi introduced Mascolino.

Derby Select Board Reverses Decision On Derby Line Bylaw

April 29, 2014

The Village of Derby Line will get the bylaw amendments they wanted. The Derby select board passed the changes Monday evening, a second vote on the same issue. Selectmen Beula-Jean Shattuck, Steve Gendreau, and Grant Spates voted yes. Selectman Laura Dolgin, who had previously voted against the move, was absent. Chairman Brian Smith did not vote.

U.S. News And World Report Recognizes Lake Region Union High School

BARTON - For a third straight year Lake Region Union High School has received a prestigious award recognizing the school’s academic achievement. The U.S. News and World Report rewarded the school with a silver medal, ranking eighth in the state of Vermont. Last year the school finished third in the state.

Reining Hope Provides Special Horse And Person Connection

MORGAN - Reining Hope Adaptive Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies provides an opportunity to traditional horse enthusiasts and those with disabilities a safe place to ride and learn about horses.
Kristin Mason, owner and program director at Reining Hope, said her organization is entering its second year.
