October 25, 2011

NEWPORT, VT - In a continuation of last week's battle between Don and Shirley Nelson and Green Mountain Power (GMP), attorneys for the parties examined and cross-examined a number of witnesses Tuesday, including two local surveyors, Paul Hannon and Norbert Blais.
Don Nelson is arguing that Blais' original survey of the property line between Nelson and Benjamin “Trip” Wileman, where the GMP wind powers are being constructed, was inaccurate and that a property agreement between Nelson and Wileman was arrived at unfairly.

October 20, 2011

BRIGHTON, VT - Mark Podgwaite, Director of Lyndon Rescue, proposed a new emergency medical services contract to the Brighton Selectboard on Wednesday, one that did not contain any increase based on a fee for using a repeater on a tower owned by Sen. The contract did nothing to calm the dispute between Lyndon Rescue and the Illuzzi brothers over who pays how much for using the tower, however.

As they entered the Hartford area, the Robinsons saw the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Irene, which had hit the region a week earlier. A little further in town, the couple saw young children searching the fields for their lost toys.
“That hurt,” said Dave Robinson. “It reminded me of things back in the 1950s. A lot of kids grew up around here with nothing.”
