Opposition To PSAP Closing Prompts Local Meetings

LYNDONVILLE — On Wednesday night, the conference room at the public safety building in Lyndonville was bustling with the “NEK caucus” of politicians, a few area volunteer fire chiefs and members, and about a handful of dispatchers and other interested citizens. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed consolidation of the Derby and Rutland PSAPs (Public Safety Answering Points), bringing the number of call taker/dispatch centers down from two to four.

MORGAN — The Morgan select board is in negotiations with Turning Points, an alternative school and day treatment program for students with emotional and behavioral challenges. In search of a larger more accommodating space, the school has inquired about the E. Taylor Hatton Elementary School, which is closed.
