NEKCA Gets Big Donation From Local Business

DERBY – Ronney Lyster, co-owner of North Point Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, helped Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) kick off its holiday season food fundraiser campaign by donating $10,000 to the organization Friday.

Jam Session In Charleston Raises Money For School

East Charleston — Once a month jam sessions held at the Charleston Elementary School draw local talent for a good cause. Music teacher Anna Shalow said the event is in its second year and is used to raise funds for school activities.

NCH Preparing For Potential Ebola Case

North Country Hospital (NCH) is preparing for the possibly of a patient with Ebola. Even though the risk is low the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is advising that all hospitals are ready. Area doctors have implemented patient screening protocols.

North Country Union Junior High School: Grilled Cheese Competition Sparks Creativity

October 16, 2014

DERBY CENTER — Family and Consumer Science teacher Kim Haley at North Country Union Junior High School likes to watch cooking shows. Haley said earlier this week cooking shows “spark my curriculum.” Recently she saw someone demonstrate some creative ways to make grilled cheese sandwiches.
Haley decided to hold a creative grilled cheese contest, dividing 21 teams of three students each.
