Falcon Boys Mean Business, KO BFA 71-66

NEWPORT-The North Country Falcons finally put away visiting BFA St. Albans after halting several Bobwhite runs to take a 71-66 win at Falcon Gym. The last contest played during the 2011 calender year gave NCU their third triumph of the season, one more than they achieved all last winter.
BFA fought to the end, erasing a 16 point Falcon lead down to three with 8 seconds to go. Their attempted tying three pointer caromed off the back iron.

Falcons Avenge Earlier Loss, Drub Vikings 61-35

NEWPORT–Revenge is a dish best served cold. With temperatures hovering around the single digits on Thursday night, the Falcon basketball girls avenged their season opener loss to Lyndon Institute with a resounding 61-35 beat down of their neighbors from the south.
Signs pointed to a rough and tumble rematch for North Country. Emma Joslin was on the bench early with two fouls, but the team rallied around her by spreading out the offense to build a 13-7 first quarter lead.

Early Deficit Too Much, Essex Defeats NCU 5-2

JAY–After a magnificent game the last time these two teams met back in March (albeit the post game stuff was not so great), the anticipation level was high when the Essex Hornets came in to square off against the North Country boys hockey team Friday night at Jay Peak.
Instead, despite a revamping of the lines in hopes of generating more offense, the Falcons fell 5-2 to the boys in gold and blue.
However, in the loss, coach Andrew Roy was quick to talk about the positives from the game.

Rangers Drop 5th Straight 49-39 to Vikings

ORLEANS–Lake Region dropped its’ 5th straight contest Friday night in a match-up against the Lyndon Institute Vikings by the score of 49-39.
The Rangers looked determined to end the losing streak and started off the contest better than their last matchup against the Vikes. In their previous meeting, the blue and white found themselves trailing 19-4 after the first 8 minutes of play.
