BRADFORDâ€“Coming off their 1st loss in 6 games, the Lady Rangers showed why they are a tough team to beat in Division 3 high school softball. Matt Tinkerâ€™s scrappy and spunky bunch of girls beat the Olympians of Oxbow, to the tune of a 14-2 drumming on Monday afternoon. The Lady Rangers pounded out 14 runs off of 11 hits. Of their 14 runs, 11 came with 2 outs in the inning, highlighted by the 6 run rally with 2 outs in the 3 inning to blow the game wide open.
Bradford-The Lake Region boys dropped a tight 7-6 loss to the 9-3 Oxbow Olympians in Bradford Monday afternoon. Oxbow made a squeeze play work in the bottom of the sixth for the winning margin. Lake Regionâ€™s Trevor Royer absorbed the loss for the now 6-6 Rangers. Junior Darik Messier recorded two RBI's and two hits for Lake Region.
LYNDONâ€“North Country took advantage of the mistakes made by an inexperienced Lyndon Institute team en route to a 13-5 win on on Monday.
The Vikings walked 11 batters and committed 10 errors in the game as Coach Bonvechio likened the contest to one of those long drawn out Yankees Red Sox games.
"It was a very sloppy game, there were three catcher's interference calls which created a lot of confusion on the field," said Bonvechio, "I mean when was the last time you saw that?"
