Rice Evens Season Series With 5-2 Win

JAY–A pair of revamped teams met in the opening game of the matinee double-header on Saturday as Rice defeated the North Country girls 5-2 to earn a split in the season series.
"I think our effort was good in a lot of areas. We had a few mental breakdowns and that led to some easy goals for them," said Claude Paul after the game, "We need to tighten up in our end, including goaltending... we need to sure that up."

DeLaBruere Nets Two as North Country Tops Rice 4-1

JAY-The boys were able to send the fans home happy after the game number two of the twin billing, as they picked up the 4-1 victory over Rice, winning their second game in a row
"It's good to have a couple (of wins) to rub together. It has been a while and it feels good," said Andrew Roy his teams' first back-to-back wins of the year.
Just fifty seconds into the game the Falcons were whistled for a Logan Fortier kneeing penalty, and it looked like it was going to be another long night of extended penalty killing for the boys in white.

Lady Rangers Mount 2nd-Half Comeback, Knock off Lancers 54-52

HYDE PARK – The Lake Region Lady Rangers traveled to face off against the Lady Lancers of Lamoille Saturday, in what ESPN would call an “Instant Classic.” Trailing by as many as 14 in the second half Lake Region was able to rally back and pull of the 54-52 victory.

United Cristian Girls Lose to Whitcomb 48-16

NEWPORT – UCA played host to the Whitcomb Hornets Saturday afternoon and after a close first quarter, they were held scoreless for 2 quarters of play, ultimately losing 48-16
The Lady Crusaders trailed early by a score of 6-0, but a 3 by Hannah Piette and a long 2 by Olivia Foster, set the stage for Christina Maxwell to pump in a 2 of her own with 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter to cap of the comeback and put UCA on top 7-6. Piette would add a free throw and Whitney Carter connected on a nice jumper from the left elbow to give the Lady Crusaders a 10-8 lead.

Hornets Defeat Crusaders 65-47 in Physical Affair

NEWPORT – Somebody forgot to tell the UCA Crusaders and the Whitcomb Hornets that their match-up on Saturday afternoon was a basketball game and not a football game. After a very physical contest that saw multiple complaints by the coaches and players, as well as over 25 combined fouls, the Crusaders came up short by a final score of 65-47.
