NEWPORT–UCA scored two goals in the opening fifteen minutes and never looked back, defeating Mid-Vermont 2-1 on Thursday.
"It was nice to get a win and break our tie streak," said coach Alyssa DeLaBruere. "I'm glad we scored early because we can rely on our defense to hold a lead."
Justin Limoge and Ji Kim teamed up for the contest's opening tally just ten minutes into the first.
Limoge found Kim, who let a bullet fly, beating goalie Austin Sayers.
"Overall I think we played as a team and guys were passing and trying to set each other up for a goal," said Kim.

NEWPORT–With heavy rains falling and field conditions poor at best, North Country (3-7-1) battled through and defeated BFA St. Albans (2-8-1) 1-0 in a much needed win.
"We are feeling great," said coach James McKenny. "The boys deserved it, bouncing back from Mount Mansfield. Coach (Stanley) and I see these guys every day and we know what they put in to it and it is rewarding to see them get the win in front of the home crowd."
